BoatU.S. Angler published an article this week on using lead to make sinkers? Considering the highly toxic nature of lead, why is BoatU.S. Angler promoting this practice?

Seems to me BoatU.S. Angler should be promoting more environmentally friendly substances to make sinkers. Here in NY our water is polluted with mercury and pcb's making our fish poisonous enough without addiing even more lead into the environment.

you bring up a valid point. Can you give us information on what other, more eco-friendly materials can be used to make your own sinkers? If you provide us with some info I will include it in the Tacklebox Newsletter as a follow-up.

I would suggest using brass as an alternative to lead. It is more environmentally friendly.
